Local Business: Kev's Corner

Kev's Corner is a local farmers market that is open May - November. For the last fifteen years it has been selling fruit, vegetables, and produce to the community. Open Monday - Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Stop by Kev's Corner and see what goodies they have to offer -- it’s not too late to go get your pumpkins for Halloween!

Congratulations to Tim, the caretaker in the 1405 building, and his lovely new bride Desiree, who were married in Lacrosse on October 15.  

They and their two children Devon and Jaxon enjoyed a beautiful warm fall day for the wedding! Following their amazing honeymoon in Jamaica, Tim has returned to his job as the 1405 Building Caretaker. 

All our best wishes to the newlyweds!

The Heat Is On!

Do you know how your heat works?  At Salem Green Apartments, we have baseboard radiant heating.

Daniel and Jamie from the maintenance staff keep the boilers running and the buildings warm!

Each building has  4 - 8 boilers that fire in succession as demand dictates. The boilers are fueled by natural gas which heats the water, which is then distributed throughout the radiant heat pipes that are located in the registers around the base of the walls in  your home.  Radiant heating is an efficient way of heating your home and also has the advantage of not blowing air around, which is a nice benefit to those with allergies. 

As the heat radiates, it should not be restricted. Make sure that you are keeping furniture at least 6 inches away from the registers and keep the register flaps in an open position. Once it starts to get below 45 degrees, make sure your windows and patio doors stay shut so that the heat pipes don’t freeze and burst. We know you will have a wonderful winter staying nice and toasty thanks to radiant heating!

National Boss Day: Thank You Mindy!

Today is National Boss Day, so we would like to appreciate Mindy, our Community Manager!

Mindy is the community manager at Salem Green Apartments

Mindy has been employed at Condor Corporation for about 12 years.  She started out as a Caretaker which led to positions as part-time Leasing Consultant, full-time Leasing Consultant, Assistant Manager, and finally Community Manager! What she likes best about her job is meeting new people, helping the residents, and the fact that there is something different happening every day at Salem Green. Before coming to Condor Corporation, Mindy was employed in Market Research and at a Mental Health Clinic. Recently, Mindy won the MADACS Community Manager of the Year award from the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association. Thank you for everything you do for Salem Green, Mindy!

With Halloween less than 3 weeks away, some Salem Green residents are showing off their decorations on their patios and balconies. This resident did a particularly BOO-tiful job! Are you planning to decorate, too?

Celebrate National Children's Day!

Today, October 8, is National Children’s Day! This day was proclaimed by Former President Bill Clinton in the year 2000.  Today is a day to celebrate the children in our lives whether it be a niece, nephew, grandchild, our own children or a special child in your life.  The children of today will lead us into the future and it is our responsibility to ensure they have a good foundation to be successful in their adult life.

What a beautiful week we've had! Not only did the record-breaking warm temperatures bring the fall colors to their peak at Salem Green, but the classic combination of great weather and dry fall leaves brought out the smiles in some of our resident kids.
