Come rain or shine, by golly we're opening the outdoor pool for the season! The maintenance crew has been working hard to get the pool ready and it's looking great. Let's give a big thanks to Daniel and Steve for making sure the pool is open by Memorial Day Weekend. The outdoor pool will open for the season at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 25.

Please enjoy this outdoor space safely. Remember to review the rules posted in the pool area with any kids or guests you bring to the pool, and remember this is a non-smoking area.

Container Gardening Fun - Check Out Photos From The Class

We would like to thank our Salem Green residents who came out to the container gardening class last night - it certainly was a lot of fun!

Attendees had a good variety of sun or shade loving plants to choose from to fill the patio pot or hanging basket they selected. Jeremiah, a horticulturalist, shared a few tips on design ideas and how various plants would interact with each other to create a beautiful visual effect, plus some tips on caring for the plants. The class was a hands-on experience as participants designed and planted their arrangements.

We're excited to see all those beautiful flowers gracing the balconies and patios around Salem Green. And remember, this August we'll be conducting our blooming balcony and patio contest - so whether you could make it to the class or not - if you decorate your outdoor space you'll automatically be entered into the contest with the chance to win the $25 prize. Enjoy the growing season and all those flowers!

Here's some of photos from the container gardening class:

Smile, It's Spring!

Spring is here! Signs of warmer weather are abounding all around Salem Green. There are ducks swimming on the lake, which is officially ice-free, and there are flowers in the planters all around our apartment community. This spring has been a long time coming. Check out some of the photos we took of the spring sights - or better yet head out for a walk and check them out in person.

The entrance to the 1455 building and the office features canna lilys this year. Those are the tall plants, with wide dark-purple leaves.

The flower pots at the picnic areas are all beautified - ready to make your grilling season the much more enjoyable.

No more ice on the lake - but there are ducks!

Notice - Spring Sweeping For Parking Lots On Thursday

We like to keep Salem Green looking great, and that's why after the snow melts we like to give our parking lots a good 'Spring Sweeping'.

On Thursday, May 16, weather permitting; we will be cleaning and sweeping the parking lots. It is imperative that all vehicles are removed from the lots between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on that day.

You may park along Alta Avenue or on the north side of Upper 55th St. until the work is complete. If you are going to be out of town or otherwise unavailable to move your vehicle on that day, please call the office as soon as possible to make other arrangements. We have a limited amount of garage stalls that will be available for use and will be assigned on a first call basis.

Any vehicle left in the lot after 8:00 a.m. will be towed at the resident’s expense.

We would never intentionally inconvenience any resident by towing a vehicle without every attempt to contact the owner. However, it is impossible to complete the sweeping without the lot being completely vacant and we may not be able to call you on that day. If you have any questions, please contact the Rental Office. Thank you for your cooperation.

You MAY Be Celebrating Some Of These Holidays This Month

Here's our wish for you: MAY you have a wonderful month of MAY! There are several holidays this month that are noteworthy. As we patiently wait for the flowers and trees to bloom, at least we have these holidays to give us reasons to celebrate this month.

May 5th - Cinco De Mayo
Translates from Spanish to“the fifth of May”, this is a national holiday in Mexico and is celebrated by many
people in the US as well. This day celebrates the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, where the Mexican army defeated the French in an unlikely victory.

May 12th - Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is celebrated in America as a day to honor our mothers. Whether a biological mother or a motherly figure, celebrate the women in your life that helped you grow and showed you the love of a mother.

May 15th - Police Officer’s Memorial Day
Police Officer’s Memorial Day is a day to honor all police officers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. Recent research shows that 140-160 officers are killed in the line of duty each year. That is a lot of fathers, brothers, sisters and mothers not returning to their families each year. Let’s show our support and respect to our local officers this day and every day for the sacrifice they make for us.

May 18th - Visit Your Relatives Day
Family can be a source of joy and frustration, sometimes at the same time! But they are often the ones that are there for you through thick and thin. So, on this day, show your appreciation for your family and spend some quality time with them.

May 27th - Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday remembering the U.S. men and women who died during military service. All U.S. federal flags are flown at half staff today in honor of those who gave their lives for our country. Many local cemeteries will be having Memorial Day services typically hosted by local VFW’s or American Legions.
