Trick Or Treat Festivities At Salem Green

Halloween is almost here and the kids are getting excited! To help everyone be good neighbors this holiday we have a few guidelines for Trick-or-Treating at Salem Green. Watch for a paper notice being delivered to your apartment about Trick-or-Treaters.

The notice will have a cut-out picture that you can cut out (or print the photo on this post) and post on your apartment door if you wish to welcome Trick-or-Treaters. If your children will be joining in the festivities, please instruct them to visit only those neighbors who have posted the welcome message, and kindly respect the privacy of those who elect not to. Please make sure to have safe treats to give out. That includes anything boxed or sealed.

Trick-or-Treaters may come to the Rental Office between 3PM - 6PM on Halloween to pick up a special treat from the staff!

Have a frightfully wonderful Halloween!

Today's Hot Topic: Installing New Boilers

Salem Green is getting eight new boilers in the 1455 building. Boilers are the mechanical equipment used to heat your apartment. This installation process takes about two days. Currently, we have three professionals installing the first four boilers; they will return next week to install the other four. Boilers are extremely heavy and need to be lifted with large machinery such as a Bobcat. The boiler room is extremely hot and can reach temperatures of over 100°F. An average boiler, when maintained properly, can last up to twenty years.

One of our hired professionals working in the hot boiler room!

Watch Your Step!

We have some visitors that arrived recently. You may have seen or heard them along the lake side of Salem Green's property. The Canadian Geese are the most common water fowl species in North America. These birds are very recognizable by their long black neck, white chin strap, V-shape flight pattern and of course the obvious honking noise that we've been hearing.

Since geese are grazers and mainly consume seeds, grass and aquatic plants, the lake area by Salem Green is a great place for them to get in a good feast before heading south for the winter. Although we enjoy having natures creatures in our backyards, these birds can become a nuisance and stick around longer than they are welcome.

We just want to remind residents: DO NOT feed any animals or birds on the property. Feeding these animals only causes them to stay longer and look for additional food sources like our dumpsters, garbage containers and possibly plants on patios.

However, in addition to showing your love to people close to you, use this day as Herbert intended and show kindness to those in need.
