Pink Power

The staff at Salem Green is joining the battle against breast cancer by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on May 12 at the Mall of America.  Julie and Janelle are walking in solidarity with Sara, a co-worker at our Lexington Heights apartment community, who is celebrating her five years as a breast cancer survivor.

If you would like to help in the effort to find a cure for breast cancer, consider joining the Salem Green staff by making a donation at the team's web page here: http://www.active.com/donate/komentc13/EMaltby5. We greatly appreciate and are thankful for any help you can give.

Fighting Cabin Fever When Winter Doesn't Know When To Quit

Is winter ever going to end? Considering it’s the middle of April and snow is yet again in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, who knows! Don’t let the winter blues get you down, Salem Green has many fun amenities on-site or nearby. Head to the Rec building for a dip in the indoor pool, or warm up in the sauna. A jog on the treadmill in the exercise room will help boost your happy endorphins, making for not only a happier you but a healthier one too. If you’re just not feeling up to all the physical activities, stop by the office and rent a DVD for only a $1.

Plus, not far from Salem Green, in West St. Paul there is a huge indoor sports facility located at 1655 Livingston Ave. They have open walking and running around the dome Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-3:30PM. Or, instead of running or walking, you can shake the cabin fever blues off with some dancing at the Cinema Ballroom Dance Studio in St. Paul. They have a very active calendar full of group classes for all levels of ability.

We're not far from the end of Winter, although it is sometimes hard to believe. But, we're only a short time away from seeing beautiful spring blooms on the trees and bushes and flower beds at Salem Green.

The Kids All Agree: Bunny Day Was Eggs-cellent!

Last Saturday we had a wonderful time with our Bunny Day celebration here at Salem Green Apartments. The Easter Bunny even made an early appearance! The kids of Salem Green (and their parents!) were treated to cookies and a chance to visit with a very large bunny. There were activities such as coloring and egg decorating.

Thanks to all of our young residents (and their parents!) for coming out to Bunny Day and making it so much fun. We look forward to seeing you there again, next year.  Check out some photos below of our Bunny Day this year.

Watch Out, It's April Fools Day Today! Also, Here's Some Other Days To Note During This Month

April 1 - April Fools Day
Watch out for your friends today! Your loving and wonderful friends, yep they are the ones most likely to pull a prank on you today, so be prepared. April Fools Day has become a day to surprise your friends and family with a prank or joke. Hopefully they'll smile and laugh, and not be too mad at you, when you return the favor.

April 2 - Autism Awareness Day
Wear blue on this day to show your support for finding the cure for autism.
Autism Facts:
  • 1 in 110 children are diagnosed with autism each year.
  • Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the United States.
  • Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding than many less prevalent childhood diseases.
April 7 - No housework day
Kick your shoes off, put up your feet and enjoy the day. On 'No Housework Day' your only job is to relax. Not a bad idea, considering that now that it is warming up a lot of folks will be busy spring cleaning. So rest while you can, you’ll be glad you did!

April 15 - Tax Day
Hopefully your taxes are completed and in the mail, but if not, make sure you get your taxes in before the post office closes. All tax forms must be postmarked by April 15th. Some Post Offices are open later this day to accommodate the last minute filers, so check your local listings to see how late your post office is open. For those running very late, the St. Paul Post Office is open untill 11:00PM on this day.

April 24 - Administrative Professional's Day

A day to celebrate the unsung heroes of the business world. Formerly known as “Secretary’s Day”. Find a way to show administrative professionals how much you appreciate them.

April 26 - Arbor Day
Plant a tree today and invite some friends to join you. It is a great way to get together and socialize with friends and neighbors, get some exercise and fresh air. You are also doing something good for our planet, and we only get one of those.
