Welcome To Salem Green, Ronda!

Please help us give Ronda a warm welcome as she joins the Salem Green Staff. Ronda joined us this month as the new caretaker for the 1455 building.

She says she enjoys her job because it keeps her in shape and she gets to meet and greet the residents. Ronda grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and has been with her husband Marty for 16 years! They have two kids, Marty Jr. and Shawn. Ronda also works as a caretaker for another company. Whenever Ronda has any free time she loves to go fishing, play bingo and lounge by the outdoor pool.

If you see Ronda around please say hello!

Sisters Take Up Residence At Salem Green - Meet Megan and Amanda!

We would like to introduce you to a couple of your new neighbors here at Salem Green – please join us in welcoming two sisters, Megan and Amanda, to Salem Green!

We asked Megan and Amanda why they decided to call Salem Green Apartments their new home and this is what they had to say:
“The sense of community through the webpage before you arrive. That is what drew us in, the hook. For us, it's more than an apartment, it's the location, it’s the whole package. Salem Green's the only apartments we found that felt relaxing, peaceful and out of the city life while still being connected.”
We are very happy they chose Salem Green! Welcome home Megan and Amanda!

Whew, It's Hot Out! Here's Some Tips For Keeping Your Apartment Cool.

What hot couple of days we've had! The air conditioners are working hard to keep each of our apartment homes cool, but there are a few things you can do to help your AC do its job better. We recently talked with Shawn, our maintenance supervisor, and he shared these tips for keeping your home cool:
  • Run your ceiling fan or a floor fan to keep the air circulating. Fans are the cheapest way to keep an apartment cool.
  • Clean the filter for your air conditioner at least once a month with warm soapy water.
  • Keep your home closed up during the day and turn off the lights. Close all the blinds and curtains to limit sunlight coming; sunlight will heat up your home quickly. Making sure your apartment is sealed up will help keep out the midday heat.
  • Do not block the vents or place lamps or televisions near your air conditioner’s thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from those appliances, which can cause the air conditions to run longer than necessary.
  • When the humidity is high, you’ll be more comfortable with the air conditioner's fan on high and dial the thermostat to a lower setting to prevent coils from freezing.
  • Limit your use of the stove. Using your stove can make your home extremely warm. Consider using the outdoor grills around Salem Green.
  • Take a dip in the pool! Stay cool and have fun.
  • After following these tips, if you notice that your air conditioner is not working properly, please call the office at (651) 455-2277.

Bunches Of Birthdays! Happy Birthday Brittney, Terry and Anthony!

The Salem Green crew apparently has great timing - they managed to have three birthdays in the span of five days! Over the weekend Brittney celebrated her birthday on Saturday, July 13, and Terry's birthday was on Sunday, July 14. Then to top it all off Anthony jumped on the birthday bandwagon and is celebrating his birthday today, Wednesday, July 17.

The staff celebrated all of their birthdays jointly with their favorite treat - cupcakes! If you see any of the special birthday people around, be sure to wish them a happy birthday, (and ask them how it is that they managed to schedule their birthdays so close to each other's).

Brittney's birthday was on Saturday.

Terry's birthday was on Sunday.

Anthony's birthday is on Wednesday.

Beautiful Blooming Balconies!

One of the best things about living at Salem Green is the large balconies and patios. If you had a chance to join our Container Gardening Class a few weeks ago, you would have found out that decorating your balcony for summer does not need to be a chore; it can be fun and rewarding! What’s not to love about having a beautiful relaxing space outside in the privacy of your balcony?

Here are a few tips to remember before you begin decorating your balcony:
  • Treat your balcony like any other room in your home. Keep it neat and organized. Please do not store anything on your balcony besides outdoor furniture and other miscellaneous outdoor items.
  • If you decide to do some gardening, choose from many self-watering containers for low maintenance.
  • Keep it fresh. Make sure you water regularly, fertilize your plants, and keep them trimmed. This will keep it looking beautiful!
  • Be creative. Express yourself and make your balcony your own.
  • If you’re on the upper floor, make sure your plants are secure so their not a hazard to anyone below.
  • Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view!

Have you been trying out your green thumb skills on your balcony?  We would love to see what you have done with your space, send us pictures of your balcony: salemgreen@condormgt.com. Check out the photos below of some of our residents' balconies.
